werdnanotroh asked: Hi! I heard you on Underground Wellness - Love your work! I have 3 quick questions (hopefully they're quick!!!) #1: If I begin supplementing with Magnesium, to ensure adequate intakes (just 400mg per day) assuming I'm absorbing the Mag, should I be concerned about my Calcium level if I'm NOT an avid dairy drinker? #2: is it likely that 400mg daily could cause a Cal deficiency or Mag toxicity? (the questions are kind of related) #3 Can you recommend any good Copper/Zinc readings?

Great questions…. I’m 3rd generation of mineral deficiency (59 yrs old). I’m guessing that you’re 4th. I take between 750-1,000 mg/day of Mg — depending on how much stress I’m processing. You needn’t worry about the Calcium level. Our bodies are designed to hold onto Calcium — at all costs — and let go of Magnesium — at the slightest “stressor.” Just to make it more interesting, it turns out that ALL 3 Hormones that control the level and location of Calcium in your body are activated by Mg — how cool is that?!?

As for your question on Zn & Cu… I would advise you get a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis to assess your overall mineral balance. You might also enjoy reading Larry Wilson’s article on “Copper Toxicity” on the web. You might relate to some of the symptoms.

Good luck!
