ada060104 asked: I am from Australia and recently listened to your podcast on underground wellness in relation to magnesium. I currently take 400mg a day of Doctor's Best Magnesium Glycinate, but find it doesn't help me with the extreme muscle pains I have in my arms and legs as well as generalised anxiety i experience. Is this brand okay and do you think I may need to up the dose to help with these problems. I get my supplements from the USA as in australia it is difficult to get good forms of magnesium.

Everything’s relative… how much exercise? What other stresses are you placing on your body? Are you a man or a woman? Menstrual cycles are very stressful… What other supplements like Calcium and Vit-D are you taking? Calcium blocks Mg absorption, and Vit-D is not the panacea everyone thinks it is. What’s the nature of your water — is it Fluoridated? — another major Mg drain. Are you taking any Rx meds — here is the States there are 15 classes of drugs (that is NOT a typo…) that deplete the body of Mg. Could that be a factor? Are you gluten sensitive? It turns out that Celiacs lost 4X as much Mg due to their reaction to the Gluten… As you can see, there are many aspects that go into this issue. And it’s possible that you simply need to double your dose. Happy to help you further, but I’ll need some specifics to be more precise in answering your question.

Thanks!
